Established in 2016, AGU’s newest medal is named after acclaimed geophysicist Devendra Lal, who passed away in 2012. Professor Lal was known for his impact on the Earth and space sciences in India and for cultivating many young scientists who became well respected in their own regard. The Devendra Lal Memorial Medal, which recognizes scientists in developing nations for their outstanding and high-quality original research accomplishments, will be awarded for the first time in 2017.
Thank you to the community of donors who are working to support a financial award to accompany the medal.
Please consider supporting the medal with a gift of any size by visiting AGU’s Devendra Lal Memorial Medal Fund site.
